Alternate Members of County Council
Lambton County member municipalities may appoint an Alternate Member for each of its member(s) elected to County Council in certain circumstances as set out in the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. 2001, c. 35 ("Act").
- Pursuant to s. 267(1) of the Act, where the County Council's elected member is unable to act as a member of County Council and his/her local municipal Council for a period exceeding one month or his/ her offices on both Councils become vacant and that vacancy will not be filled for a period exceeding one month; and
- Pursuant to s. 268(1) of the Act, where the County Council's elected member is unable to attend a meeting of the upper-tier council for any reason.
