It is the responsibility of the Applicant and/or Carrier to obtain approval from the Ministry of Transportation Ontario and/or Local Road Authorities where moves require travel on Provincial Highways and/or local roads.
You can find a list of website for local municipalities on the County Government page.
The Oversized Load Corridor (OLC) is a designated protected route on existing roadways of the City of Sarnia, County of Lambton, and MTO. It connects fabricators to the Port of Sarnia for the unimpeded import/export and trans-shipment of oversized product to and from fabricators’ locations and Sarnia-Lambton’s industrial base. You can find information regarding this preferred route on the City of Sarnia website.
Overweight permits with routes along roads under a seasonal load restriction WILL NOT be issued during MARCH or APRIL or other periods when road bases are potentially soft. Check the list of seasonal load restrictions before you apply.
Oversize Annual Permits (OO Annual) which fall under the “Enhanced General Load” category have a limited portion of the County Road network available for use. Review the map identifying the County Road network available for any annual load width greater than 3.75m but less than 4.27m.
