Community Partnership

Working together for a welcoming Sarnia-Lambton

We recognize that building a welcoming and inclusive community is a shared responsibility. We bring together local organizations, institutions, and residents to strengthen our region’s ability to support newcomers and foster a sense of belonging for all. Through collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to diversity, SL-LIP works alongside community partners to create opportunities that support newcomer integration, economic participation, and social inclusion.

SL-LIP community partnerships are built on mutual respect, shared values, and the recognition that lasting change happens when we work together. By partnering with SL-LIP, organizations become part of a coordinated network that:
  • Promotes equity, diversity, and inclusion across Sarnia-Lambton
  • Builds culturally responsive programing and services
  • Supports the integration and well-being of immigrants and refugees
  • Strengthens local planning through research and collaboration
Creates meaningful connections between newcomers and the broader community

Our local partners include:

  • Community service agencies and nonprofit organizations
  • Municipal departments and regional service providers
  • Health care, education, and employment organizations
  • Cultural, faith-based, and grassroots groups
  • Businesses, employers, and industry leaders
  • Newcomer leaders and lived-experience advocates

Together, we co-create initiatives such as public education campaigns, community events, workforce integration projects, and inclusive service coordination models.

The Sarnia-Lambton Local Immigration Partnership (SL-LIP) plays a key leadership role in regional newcomer initiatives, notably through its chairing of the Community Action Group within the SL-Immigration Task Force. This position allows SL-LIP to guide collaborative efforts among service providers, community leaders, and stakeholders to address the needs of immigrants and enhance settlement outcomes. Through this and partnerships with groups like the SWO-LIPs, the Community Safety and Wellbeing Committee, and SLARDIC, SL-LIP helps drive coordinated action, shared learning, and inclusive community development across the region.

Whether you’re a service provider, employer, community group, or resident looking to make a difference, we invite you to join us in building a more inclusive Sarnia-Lambton.

Partnership opportunities include:

  • Collaborating on local events and projects
  • Participating in working groups and planning tables
  • Supporting newcomer-friendly policies and practices
  • Providing funding, space, or in-kind resources
  • Promoting inclusive hiring and workplace initiatives

SL-LIP is always looking to strengthen and grow its network of engaged, community-minded partners. If you’re ready to support newcomer inclusion and help shape the future of Sarnia-Lambton, we want to hear from you.
