Certain jobs at the County of Lambton do require a valid Criminal Record Check and may require a Vulnerable Sector Check, however, you do not need to submit a Police Check to apply to a job. If the job requires a Police Check, this will be asked of you later in the hiring process.

We ask this question as one of our pre-screening questions when you apply to a job. Please answer this question honestly. If a criminal record exists it does not automatically exclude your application. All applications are reviewed by the hiring team.

Typically no. The pre-screening questions are an initial screening of the job applications, however they do not typically exclude your application from being considered. All job applications are reviewed by the hiring team. A case where an application may not be able to be considered when pre-screening questions are answered with a No, is when the question is asking for a bona fide occupational requirement, meaning the skill/qualification is mandatory for the position and those without it cannot be hired.

We recommend addressing your cover letter to the hiring team, including the department of the position you are applying for. For example: Hiring Team, Public Health Services.

The County’s objective is to deliver its services and programs effectively and efficiently. As a general rule, County employees are required to report to work at, and work out of, their assigned County workplace.
