Financial Benefits

There are a number of benefits available if you are receiving Ontario Works. These are divided into two categories:

Mandatory Benefits

For those who are eligible to receive monthly income support under Ontario Works, the following mandatory benefits are also available:

• Prescription drug coverage
• Vision care for children
• Diabetic and surgical supplies
• Medical transportation
• Approved special diet costs

Discretionary Benefits

There are also some discretionary benefits that may be available. These include, but are not limited to the following:

• Emergency dental care for adults
• Vision care for adults
• Prosthetic appliances
• Funerals and burials
• Stability-related participation supports
